What do current and former employees say about working at SoCa Arts?

I have taught dance for over 20 yrs and this is one of the best dance companies/studios I have worked for. I took a 5 yr hiatus from the company to have my children and came back because I enjoyed working for them so much. They value you not just as a teacher, employee but also as a dancer and person. Each teacher is given all the resources you would need to run and maintain a successful class and you will never feel unappreciated for your efforts. – Michelle C.

I started in 2016 after seeing a swimming mermaid post on backstage. That led me into the best college job I could ask for! I was able to recruit a bunch of friends and work with them. Kim is the best boss anyone could ask for. So personable and makes you feel valued. By far the most professional dance & character company I’ve ever seen. When I would tell friends who worked for other companies about Kim’s company, they couldn’t believe it. So streamlined and professional. Highly recommend! – Grace O.

Working at SoCa Arts has been such a great journey for my teaching career. I have been working for SoCa Arts for over 7 years and they have helped shape me into the instructor I am today. Thanks to the opportunities SoCa Arts has given me, I have been able to learn what my teaching style is when teaching Dance. The team provides you with so many resources to prepare for your classes, lots of support and a great platform to build your following of students. I enjoy the liberty the instructors have to create their own lesson plans and curriculum to cater to your own teaching style and your students. For anyone looking to begin their career in dance education, SoCa Arts is a great company to join! – Nathaly U.

I’ve been doing Parks and Rec for nearly a decade, and SoCa Arts has by far been the best workplace I’ve ever experienced when it comes to teaching children’s dance. Offering blocks gives you more incentive per location, and their syllabi offer a loose-framework so that essentially, you can teach however you want. Upper management is incredibly flexible and communicative, and they take great interest in addressing my individual needs. I feel especially valued as a team member through the plethora of individual interactions, yearly bonuses, and their integrity to adhere to your requests and/or concerns. Lastly, I sincerely appreciate the office delegating the more unpleasant grunt-work to the background, so that we instructors can focus on doing what we love. I have no plans to leave SoCa Arts for as long as I’m able, and I encourage anyone that enjoys teaching kids’ dance to consider applying. – Kianna P.

Working at SoCa Arts as a dance teacher is great! The job provides a nice independent workspace where you are given the opportunity to really make connections with the students and families in your classes. Kim and Morgan are a great support system and help guide their employees wherever they may need it, whether it be about new ways to make your classes fun, tips on how to run a class successfully, props and music for classes, and more. In addition to teaching, teachers are given the opportunity to email their students important updates, choreograph recital dances, and sub for other teachers when needed. Overall, a great job for people who love teaching dance and working with children! – Miranda K.

Working for SoCa Arts has been an absolute pleasure! I began at the company (when it was formerly OC Dance Productions) when I had recently moved to Southern California, and I taught at multiple locations over the course of a few dance sessions. Kim and Morgan are great bosses/managers to have, and I appreciate how understanding and communicative they always are. They both made me feel valued as an employee and helped me feel understood and heard with any concerns or issues that came up. In addition, they worked with me to restart a portion of the company post-Covid; Ever After Events helped me launch my experience in princess character performance, and now I am going on to be a performer at Disney! Although SoCa Arts has many clients and employees, I always felt appreciated and prioritized. – Daelyn C.

Working at SoCa Arts was a fantastic experience. One thing for certain is that Kim and Morgan will always be on your team and have your back if a situation arises. I was hired right before the 2020 shutdown and quickly gained insight as to the lengths Kim will go to support her staff. Mentorship is encouraged and many long-term staff members are willing to provide resources or advice to new hires. The management team also has a plethora of resources and materials to serve as templates for new instructors or those teaching a new class style. As an instructor, most of your work is done independently so leadership skills and organization are key, however, there are several times throughout the year when the company meets as a team and I always felt welcomed. I highly recommend SoCa Arts! – Fiona F.

Kim and Morgan have always been there for me and consistently helped to create the type of program that would get us all to our best teaching abilities. I got the privilege to work with them through all sides of the company including, princess events, teaching at multiple cities, summer camps, and even as an office assistant.
