SoCa Arts

Our Mission

We aim to offer quality dance instruction and performance opportunities in a warm, nurturing environment thus fostering a love for the arts.

About Us

Previously known as OC Dance Productions, we’re the same company that families have grown to love across Southern California. For six years we’ve been voted “Best Dance Studio in Orange County” in the OC Parenting annual Reader’s Choice edition. SoCa Arts is the only dance company in southern California that is partnered with a children’s non-profit to emphasize the importance of how to make a difference at any age. SoCa Arts believes that by providing resources and events that empower children to celebrate kindness, compassion, and a philanthropic spirit in all that they do we will create happier and more confident children. Progression Plan

SoCa Arts has created a unique, copyrighted children’s dance progression program for all of our classes.

This program demonstrates to parents which dance objectives will be taught in class for your dancer’s age, ability, coordination level, and genre. At the start of the session, dancers are emailed a sheet with each objective that will be focused on in class. At the end of each session, all dancers are given an “Awesome Dancer Award” to symbolize their completion of these objectives.

Our Team

Our very talented and enthusiastic dance instructors come from a wide variety of dance backgrounds and together represent a pool of knowledge and experience. Click here to meet our instructors!

Morgan – Programs & Operations Manager

Morgan has been the Programs & Operations Manager for SoCa Arts since January 2019. She began her dance training at age five at Dancers’ Workshop in Jackson Hole, WY where she trained in ballet, modern, jazz, tap, pointe, hip-hop, and pilates. Morgan spent her college years developing her technique, artistry, and knowledge of dance at Chapman University where she graduated with a BFA in Dance Performance. Upon graduating from college, Morgan began teaching for SoCa Arts where she discovered a passion for sharing her love of dance with her students in a positive environment. Currently, Morgan resides in Oregon and travels to California semi-annually for recitals and encourages you to say hello if you see her! Read Morgan’s full bio here.

FAQS

What age can my child start dance?

We start dancers at 18 months as part of our Parent & Me program. Starting at age 3 children can move to a non-parent-assisted program in all genres of dance.

What should my child wear to class?

SoCa Arts does not require a certain dress code for classes (unless stated at the end of a class description) however, our recommended class attire for our classes can be found on our Dress Code page. Click here for more information and where to purchase.

Where are you located?

We have several locations in OC, LA, and Riverside counties. Please refer to our Schedules page to see which location is closest to you.

Can I join a class after the session has started?

In most cases yes, unless the class is full. However, depending on when you register, you may not be eligible for recital after a certain date. Fees may be prorated depending on your city’s guidelines.

Are recitals mandatory?

No, recital participation is not mandatory, however, most children want to participate to proudly show what they have accomplished. Recital is a big part of the dance world and is a wonderful experience for children from the costume, the fun backstage, the bonding with their class and instructors, and feeling proud of performing on stage. Plus, you can get some really cute and memorable photos!

Why is there a fee for recital and is there a deadline to register for recital?

The fee covers the cost of your dancer’s costume, shipping and handling, and a professional recording of the show for each family. Our costumes are the same costumes from the same vendors used by almost every studio in the country and are not made by SoCa Arts. Dancers wanting to participate in one of our bi-annual recitals must be registered for class Sept-Dec or Jan-May. The recital registration deadline is typically within the first few weeks of the session (end of September or mid-February) to account for order processing, shipping times, costume sorting, and delivery to your dancer before the recital date.

What is the “Starlettes” program and how can we join?

Starlettes is SoCa Arts’s performance group. We call it a performance group as we perform several times a year but do not do the competitions nor travel out of state. In order to qualify for Starlettes, dancers must have at least one year of experience with SoCa Arts or a recommendation from their studio to prove they are ready for the longer, intensive class as well as the commitment. If you are interested contact SoCa Arts to get more information and see if you would like to be a part of this special team!

Who is Ever After Princess and why are they connected to your website?

Ever After Princess is our sister company that was created for the families of our dancers. Our parents loved our staff so much they wanted them at their parties and asked us if we could host them. Our character company offers some of the best talent in SoCal and we love offering characters, swimming mermaids, singers, face painters, crazy hair stylists, and other fun things to our families. We also wanted to donate some proceeds to charity. Charity work is a big part of the character company and is something we take pride in every day.
